NQuire, in association with leading Czech Republic customer equipment manufacturer 2N Telekomunikace, has developed the software application NQuire ATEUS® LOOK-UP for 2N’s range of ISDN Primary Rate GSM Gateways ATEUS® Stargate and ATEUS® BlueStar.

This industry leading application allows the GSM Gateway to gain direct and real-time access onto NQuire's network look-up servers and obtain accurate and real-time number routing information from the worlds mobile network operators.

The application is available as a software upgrade to new and existing Stargate and BlueStar GSM Gateways and will enable the to accurately identify and correctly route mobile telephone calls without having to rely on traditional least cost routing methods of using the prefix of the mobile number. This capability is particularly important in areas where mobile number porting already is, or is becoming an issue.

The application works by "holding" the incoming call and sending a number inquiry request to the NQuire servers via the connected internet, which in-turn interrogate the relevant mobile networks and obtains the actual routing information associated with the number.

Once the number look-up has been performed, the information is passed back to the GSM Gateway to allow it to route the call to actual terminating network and not to the mobile number network to which the number prefix is allocated. Thus by the use of lower tariffed "On-Net" SIM's within the GSM Gateway, the most cost efficient route to the terminating mobile network can be chosen.

The total time taken to complete the look-up cycle covers a range of between 20Ms (Milliseconds) and 400Ms and once implemented within the GSM Gateway the process is transparent to the end-user.
